Batteries and cakes
Similar to cakes, batteries are composed of different ingredients that need to be brought together. For a new type of battery, the so-called all solid state battery (ASSB), all these ingredients are powders like flour, sugar and baking powder. These powders need to be mixed appropriately so that the battery can work well. In contrast to baking sessions at home, this cannot be done with a normal mixer but special machines are required.
In my current research project we investigate such machines and mixing processes to produce the best battery components. Hereby many things can be varied and can impact the overall performance of the battery (or taste of the cake). Should we use fine or coarse flour? How long and with how much force do we have to mix our ingredients? These are questions we are trying to answer on the way to a good battery/cake dough recipe 🙂
